1. Place the carpet-bare floor pedal in the carpet position. Insert a screwdriver under the back of the pedal cover and pry up to remove it from the pedal assembly. Take care not to scratch the nozzle housing. 4. Insert the beater bar by placing the rounded portion of the end caps down into the slots in the nozzle base. 5. Press firmly, checking to see that each end is completely inserted.
2. 3. 4. 6. Check to see that the belt is centered on the belt pulley and that the beater bar turns freely. 7. Replace nozzle cover. 5. 6. 7.

Belt Replacement
Removal
NOTE: Every time the pedal cover is removed for any reason, it should be replaced with a new one. Remove nozzle cover as outlined in NOZZLE COVER section. Remove belt cover by removing screw at rear. Remove dust cover by removing eight (8) screws as outlined in MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT section. Remove belt and beater bar assembly as outlined in their respective sections. Remove lower plate assembly from the vacuum cleaner. Remove three (3) screws that secure carpet-bare floor
1. Follow all of the removal instructions outlined in the Beater Bar Assembly Replacement section.
shifter and handle release assembly. 8. Remove pedal shaft and remove handle release pedal. 9. Remove carpet-bare floor shifter assembly by sliding out through the top of lower plate.

Installation
1. Place the new belt around the motor shaft and follow the installation instructions in the Beater Bar Assembly Replacement section.
1. Slide the carpet-bare floor & handle release assembly back into the slot in the lower plate. 2. Insert the pedal shaft through the handle release pedal 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. and into the handle release assembly frame. Reinstall the three (3) screws that hold the frame and pedal shaft onto the lower plate. Reinstall the lower plate assembly on the vacuum cleaner. Reinstall dust cover with eight (8) screws. Reinstall the belt cover and screw. Install the new pedal cover by pushing it onto the pedal assembly until the tab snaps into place. Reinstall belt and beater bar. Reinstall the nozzle housing as directed in the NOZZLE COVER INSTALLATION section.
