CHAPTER 6 MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning, disconnect the power plug from the outlet. Cleaning the cabinet/remote control unit Never use solvents such as benzine thinner, etc. Use of such solvents will damage the cabinet and remote control unit or cause the coating to peel away. Wipe with a soft cloth. If very dirty, soak a soft cloth in neutral detergent diluted with water, squeeze tightly, and wipe. Finish by drying with a dry soft cloth. Cleaning the screen (front protection panel) The screen surface (front protection panel) has a special coating to prevent reflection. As it is very delicate, clean by brushing the dust off the screen gently wipe off the remaining dust with a soft cloth. Do not wipe with tissue or a rough cloth. The surface can be easily scratched, Do not rub or hit with any hard objects. Also never use solvents such as benzine and thinners to clean the panel, or the panel may lose its transparency and discolor. The following cleaning cloth and cleaning solutions are recommended. Name Part No. Cleaning cloth:Minimax GED-009 Cleaning solution:B4 GEM1004 If slightly dirty, brush off the dusts and wipe gently with Minimax. If very dirty, brush off the dusts, apply a small amount of B4 to the edge of the Minimax, and clean. After the B4 dries, wipe again with a dry Minimax or the screen will appear blurred. Cleaning the air vents Once a month using a vacuum cleaner set to Low clean the air vents at the side and back of the Display, and where the fan is attached. Always clean the air vents with the main power to the Display turned OFF. Using the Display with accumulated dust can cause the internal temperature to rise, and lead to a malfunction and/or fire hazard. Re-adjustment of white balance This Display uses fluorescent materials e.g./ CRT. Use over a long period of time causes these fluorescent materials to deteriorate and the luminance to drop. Because the green and blue fluorescent materials deteriorate faster than the red, it is recommended that the white balance be re-adjusted every 1000 hours of use.
