Check the Choosing Cookware chart on page 10 to see which type of cookware is best for each type of cookrng you do. Pans must cover the entire element to absorb the full heat output. Have lrght handles that do not tilt pans. C. Are about the same size of the element. When possible, thaw frozen foods before cooking, cook with the mlnlmum amount of water and use a pan with a lightly fitting lid. Put pans on the cooktop elements before heat is turned on, so you will not wasted heat. Be sure to watch foods when heating them quickly on HI. As soon as the food reaches the cooking temperature, turn down the heat to the lowest setting that will keep it cookrng. Turn the element off just before cooklng IS fInIshed. to use the remalnrng heat to flnlsh cooking and keep food warm before serving Never leave an empty pan on a hot element. OVEN LIGHT AND COOKTOP LIGHT (Some Models)
The switches for the interior oven light and the panel light (on models so equipped) are located on the control panel. See page 16 and 17 for more information. Preheating lets the oven heat evenly before the food is put in. Allow 10 minutes at temperature less than 35OOF and about 15 mrnutes at temperatures at 35OOF or more. You will hear a one when the oven is ready With recipes that call for an oven preheated to a certain temperature, It IS very importanl that you follow those instructions. It is not lrkely that you will get good baking results every trme wrthout preheating to the needed temperature, unless the recrpe says to start in a cold oven. After the oven is preheated and you are ready to put the food In. try to have everything handy so that you will not have to leave the oven door open for an extended period of time Opening the door to check the food durrng baking makes 11 rmpossrble for the oven to stay at the temperature you have selected. Try to trme your bakIng and check only when close to being flnlstied NOTE: When using cookware made of ovenproof glass or pottery, Teflon coated cookware or dull or darkened pans in the, be sure to reduce recipe temperature by 25OF (see Choosing Cookware Chart page 10)
