3.8.2 Setting SCSI IDs using the Mode Setting Buttons
Control software is often written to query the DRM-5004X for the SCSI IDs of the different drives and the changer mechanism controller inside the unit. The Mode Setting Buttons located on the inside right front rail of the unit can be used to manually input the SCSI ID numbers of each Drive. This enables the unit to respond to software queries. First, connect the power cord and power on the unit.

NOTE: The numbers that are entered for each drive and the changer mechanism controller must match those that are set with the SCSI ID Switches on the rear connection board. The number of the changer mechanism cannot be set with the buttons, it always matches the number set with the DIP Switches on the back of the unit. See Figure 3-15, Mode Setting Buttons and Front Panel Display. 1) Press the L1 button for three seconds and the display lights up. 2) Press L2 key to enter SCSI ID Setting Mode. (This allows you to manually set the SCSI ID Switches so the player will know how to respond to software that queries the unit for SCSI ID numbers of the different drives. Make sure the numbers match those set with SCSI ID switches on the rear connection board.) See Figure 3-16, SCSI ID Numbers set in SCSI ID Setting Mode. Also, see Figure 3-17, Pressing an R button will cycle through 0-F to set SCSI IDs. NOTE: If no drive is present, set the SCSI ID to F 3) Press the R4 button consecutively, to indicate the SCSI ID of Drive #1. Refer to the illuminated display. See Figure 3-16, SCSI ID Numbers set in SCSI ID Setting Mode. Also, see Figure 3-17, Pressing an R button will cycle through 0-F to set SCSI IDs. 4) Press R3 consecutively, to indicate SCSI ID of Drive #2. 5) Press R2 consecutively, to indicate the SCSI ID of Drive #3. 6) Press R1 consecutively, to indicate the SCSI ID of Drive #4. 7) Press L1 button to commit the SCSI ID settings to memory. NOTE: When the L1 key is pressed more than 3 seconds continuously, the display lights up, and indicates the total number of times discs have been changed. (The number displayed is x1000.)
