POWER SUPPLY
Recharging Nickel-Cadmium batteries
Your mains adapter also works as a charger. This is only possible with Ni-Cd batteries with the reference AA IEC (KR 15/51) 1.2 V/600mA. Note: As a quick reference when buying the Ni-Cd batteries, be sure that the metal cap on the negative pole is exposed more than 3 mm as illustrated.
GENERAL
Automatic Power-Off
This CD-player is equipped with an automatic power-off function. � In STOP mode, the player automatically shuts down approximately 2 minutes after the last operation. � If you press STOP 9 while the set is in STOP mode, the player also shuts down. � To reactivate the player, press PLAY·PAUSE 2;.
CD PLAYBACK
Inserting a CD
� Open the lid by pressing the / � Insert an audio CD, printed side up. � Push gently on the CD center so that it fits onto the hub. � In addition to standard 12 cm CD's, you can also play 8 cm CD singles without an adapter. � Close the lid by pushing it on its right-hand side. Removing the CD � To take out the CD, open the CD lid by pressing the / OPEN button. � Hold the CD by its edge and press the hub gently.

� Press PLAY·PAUSE 2; to start playback. � The CD-player first scans the contents list of the CD. Then, playback starts and the display shows the current track number � Adjust the sound using the VOLUME and UBS controls. � For brief interruptions, press PLAY·PAUSE 2; � The indication B starts flashing. � To resume playback, press PLAY·PAUSE 2; again. Elapsed playing see the elapsed playing time of � If you wish to time indication the current track, press PROG/UBS for more than 1 second during playback or in pause mode.

Hold function

The HOLD function is used to prevent accidental operation or interruption of the player (e.g. when travelling, etc.). � Set the HOLD switch to the ON position. � Now, the CD player buttons will not operate. � To disable this function, set the HOLD switch to the OFF position.
� Charge the batteries prior to first use and also if the batteries have not been used for a long period. � Install the rechargeable batteries in the battery compartment as described before. � Connect the adapter to the CD-player and then to the wall outlet. � The batteries should be allowed to recharge for 8 hours for full capacity. � The ambient temperature for recharging should be between 0�C and 40�C. � If you start playback while the batteries are being recharged, the recharging operation stops.
DAS � Digital Anti-shock System memory
The DAS memory stores the CD data (music) for 10 seconds in advance in order to prevent interruption during play caused by shock and vibration. � Activate the DAS memory by setting the DAS switch to the ON position. � The indication 'DAS' lights up on the display. � To disable this function, set the DAS switch to the OFF position.
� Press again PROG/UBS for more than 1 second to go back to the indication of the current track number. � To stop playback, press STOP 9. � The total playing time and the total number of tracks will appear alternately on the display. � If you press STOP 9 again, you will switch off the set. � If no button is pressed for 2 minutes, the set will switch off automatically.

Note: When switching the DAS feature on and off, CD play will be delayed or interrupted for a short time. � As the Digital Anti-shock System requires more energy, it is advisable to switch it off when the playing conditions are good, in order to save battery life.
� Open the CD door only if the CD player is in position STOP.

Selecting another track during playback � Press S or T until the required track number appears in the display. � The selected track begins to play. Starting with a particular track � Press in stop mode S or T until the required track number appears in the display. � Press PLAY·PAUSE 2;. � Playback starts from the selected track. Searching for a passage during playback � Hold down the S or T button during playback to find a particular passage in backward or forward direction. � Release the button when you have reached the desired passage. Note: This function can be described as 'audibly' searching for a title. During the search, volume is reduced and returns to its adjusted level as soon as the button is released.
PROGRAMMING
Storing a programme
By programming the player you can play up to 24 tracks in any desired order. If you try to exceed the maximum of 24 tracks, the display shows FULL. You may store each track more than once. � Insert a CD and close the compartment. � Press PLAY·PAUSE 2; to let the player read the contents of the CD and then select the stop mode by pressing STOP 9. � Press PROG/UBS for more than 1 second 'PGM' starts flashing on the display. � Select the first desired track using S or T. � Store this track by pressing PROG/UBS again. � Select and store in this way all desired titles.
Selecting a different playback mode
The MODE button allows you to select five different playback modes. � Press the MODE button until the display shows the desired function: � The playback mode changes in the following sequence: 1 �> ALL �> RANDOM �> INTRO �> normal playback �> � 1, etc. 1: one track is repeated; � ALL: all tracks on the CD are repeated; � RANDOM: the tracks are played in random order until all of them have been played once.
Playing the programme
� � � � Press PLAY·PAUSE 2;. Playback starts with the first track of the programme. The display shows 'PGM'. After the last track playback stops.

PGM
The total playing time and total number of tracks will then in turn appear on the display. Note: While playing a programme, it is possible to use S or T to select the desired programmed tracks. Checking the programme � In STOP mode, press S or T repeatedly. � The display shows in sequence all programmed track numbers. Changing the programme � Press in STOP mode PROG/UBS for more than 1 second. � Pressing PROG/UBS several times will show in sequence all track numbers that are stored. � Then, '00' appears again. � You can now add tracks to the sequence as described above (up to 24). Erasing the programme The contents of the memory will be erased: � when the player is switched off; � if the batteries become exhausted or if the power supply is interrupted in another way.

RANDOM INTRO
� INTRO: to play only the first 10 seconds of each title; after the last title, the CD player stops. � The RANDOM function is not possible during playback of a programme. � If you select RANDOM during playback, the function starts from the end of the current track. � To go back to normal playback, press MODE repeatedly until all the mode indications disappear. � You can also press STOP 9 twice to switch the set off.
