About the strobe to be used A strobe that only has a hot shoe cannot be used with this camera. It is recommended to use a strobe with which iris setting around f-5.6 is possible. About the relationship between the GN of a strobe and the fstop of the iris, see Setting of the iris (f-stop) according to the GN of a strobe. In a case of shooting with a higher f-stop (for example f-11), if the display on the LCD is too dark to monitor the subject, reduce the intensity of light from the strobe using a diffuser, and set the iris to a lower f-stop. The color quality of a printout may differ depending on the strobe used. Adjust the color quality of a printout, if necessary, by menu operation (page 44). About the guide number The guide number (GN) indicates the intensity of light to expect from a strobe. The correlation among the GN, the distance between the lens and the subject, and the iris is expressed as follows: GN = f d (f = iris setting, d = distance between the lens and the subject) Setting of the iris (f-stop) according to the GN of a strobe
