Holding the pushbutton down for more than one second will switch between 33.3 and 45 rpm.

Super glue Lint free cloth 1.Starting with 320 grit sandpaper lightly sand all surfaces of the base and armboard. Sand the surfaces evenly, with the grain and be careful to not inadvertently round the corners. Follow up with 400 or 600 grit sandpaper. 2.Make sure that the base and armboard surfaces are clean 3.Apply a liberal coat of Tung oil to all of the wood surfaces with a clean rag. Dont forget to oil the inside of the bearing mounting hole. 4.After 5-10 minutes wipe off the excess oil with a clean, lint free cloth. 5.Let the oil dry for 4 to 6 hours and buff the surface with steel wool. 6.Repeat steps 2 through 5 until the wood surface has the desired sheen. A minimum of four coats of oil should be applied. After the final coat of oil you may wish to buff with a clean cloth rather than using steel wool for a more glossy finish. 7.Using the included 1/4 threaded studs attach the carbon fiber cones to the bottom of the base. 8.The mounting holes for the bearing, armboard and sensor may need some slight adjustment. Using a small rat tail file carefully clean out any finish that may have accumulated in the mounting holes. The sensor hole is typically a little undersized and should be filed until the sensor slides smoothly into the mounting hole. The 3/8 hole for the armboard bolt may also need to be adjusted so that the bolt can be installed without binding. 9.The infared sensor is installed in a short length of 1/4 aluminum tubing. At the end of a gray cable. Install the sensor into the ¼ hole in the base. Position the sensor so that the top is 3/32 above the surface of the base. Secure in place with adhesive (a drop of super glue works well). The sensor's

Platter Removal

To avoid damage to the bearing surfaces the platter must be removed without pulling the bearing shaft out of the bearing assembly. The removal process requires two small blocks of wood (or some other suitable material) roughly ¾ thick. Both blocks must be the same thickness. A piece of wood 8 to 14 long is also required. Use the following procedure: 1. Carefully raise the platter up just high enough to slide blocks of wood under the platter. Place the blocks on opposite sides of the platter to provide even support. 2. Lay a piece of wood on top of the centering pin and press down firmly until the spindle has been pushed down and out of the platter 3. Lift the platter off of the bearing. Be sure that the bearing spindle is fully disengaged from the platter before lifting.

Drive Belts

Teres turntables come with a drive belt fabricated from ½ mylar tape. We prefer the sound of mylar tape but there is not a clear consensus about the best drive belt material. Other materials such as silk thread, fly fishing line and rubber belts have been used with good results. VI.

Base Preparation (Unfinished Models Only)

The 200 series Teres kits come with an unfinished wood base that must have a finish applied before the turntable is assembled. The following is the recommended procedure for applying a satin Tung oil finish. However, there are numerous methods and techniques for wood finishing and this only one of many possibilities. Required tools and supplies: 220 or 320 grit sandpaper Super fine (#0000) steel wool Tung Oil finish 1/4 rat tail file
