p Rewriting the Flash ROMs on System Control Microprocessor and A/V control Microprocessor
1. Preparation of the personal computer side The RS96 directory must be copied to the Desktop directory of the PC that is used for rewriting, as an entire directory. @Note: If the RS96 directory is copied to any locations other than the Desktop directory, rewriting will not be performed. 2. Preparation of Files When the RS96 directory that was copied in step 1, is opened, the follow files appear: rs96. exe SortAV Sort SYS rs96. log Exe Serial command software A file that creates the binary file of the A/V control microprocessor A file that creates the binary file of the system control microprocessor Log file of RS96 The directory in which execution file is located.
The files marked by the asterisk mark () are the hidden files that are not necessary to look at. They can be seen only when all files display that is an option of the Explorer is set. To rewrite the firmware via serial communication, the mboot binary file must be created from the . mot file because the binary file is used instead of the . mot S format file. a. How to create the system control binary file Drug and drop the . mot file of the version which you want to rewrite, to the SortSYS file. b. How to create the A/V control binary file Drug and drop the . mot file of the version which you want to rewrite, to the SortAV file. When the step a or b is performed, the file named mboot is created. (The A/V and system controls have the same file name.) The file name is set by default and the names other than mboot cannot be used. 3. Preparations at the Board Side Connect the personal computer (RS96 is copied from the floppy disc) in which the mboot and the RS96. EXE are located in the same directory as prepared in steps 1 and 2, to the circuit board which you want to upgrade the version with a serial interface cable. Select the version upgrading mode. Conditions to enter the version upgrading mode While the OPEN switch: HIGH, the OPEN key: LOW, and the TEST mode: LOW, the DC-IN is applied (or system control reset). In actual operation, open the shorting taps of the OPEN switch (this switch is normally open), shorts the shorting taps of the TEST mode tap, and while pressing the OPEN key, connect the DC-IN power (or reset the system control microprocessor). When the machine enters the version upgrading mode, the POWER LED flashes to indicate that it is in the version upgrading mode.
