Installing the toner & drum unit
Caution: q Do not expose the drum unit to light for more than 5 minutes. q Do not touch or scratch the green drum surface. Do not place the drum unit near dust or dirt, or in a high humidity area. q q Do not expose the drum unit to direct sunlight.

Setting the unit to receive faxes
AUTO ANSWER �ON� (light is on): The unit will automatically receive faxes. AUTO ANSWER �OFF� (light is off): You should answer calls and press FAX START to receive faxes.

The included starter toner cartridge will print about 800 A4 size pages. Please purchase a toner cartridge (KX-FA76A) which will print about 2,000 pages.

Peel off the seal from the toner cartridge ( 1 ). Remove the protection bar from the drum unit ( 2 ). 2 Protection bar

With Panasonic face up on the toner cartridge, match the red arrows on the cartridge and the drum unit. Hold here.

Slide the tab of the toner cartridge into the slot of the drum unit.

Hold right side of the toner cartridge under the lip on the drum unit and...

cartridge with firm pressure.

The toner cartridge is installed when the triangles match.

FAX ONLY mode Turn AUTO ANSWER on.

Connect an answering machine and set its ring count to less than 4. q Set the fax ring count of the fax machine to more than 4, if you use with AUTO ANSWER on.

TEL mode Turn AUTO ANSWER off.

Grab the tabs and shake horizontally several times.

Install the drum and toner unit.

Close the front cover until locked.

When receiving calls: All incoming calls will be answered as faxes.

When receiving voice calls: The answering machine will record voice messages. When receiving fax calls: The fax machine will receive faxes.

When receiving calls: You have to answer all calls manually. To receive a fax, press FAX START . You can also receive a fax using an extension telephone. While you hearing the fax calling tone, press 9 to receive a fax.

To use this jack, remove the stopper.

Adjust the width of the document guides. Insert the document (up to 15 pages) FACE DOWN.

the two slots, then let it lean back until it clicks into place.

Sending a fax manually: Dial the fax number, then press

Check installation by making a call or making a copy. If you do not hear a dial tone and cannot make a call (as on a normal phone) or cannot make a copy, please check the operating instructions.

OTHER HELP FUNCTION
You can print a quick reference for assistance, such as the programming feature list, EASY DIAL usage, copier function, etc. Rotate EASY DIAL until the item you want to print is displayed in step 2, and press SET . The unit will start printing.
