Check again that the objective lens of optical pickup is clean. If not, clean it. Check R17, R21~23, C15~17. If OK, IC1001 is defective. Check R35 and C31. Check the PWB pattern.

Is eye pattern output to the pin 11 (EFMIN) of IC2? Yes IC2 is defective.

No

� HF failure. Does the pin 7 (TE) of IC1 give output (tracking error signal) in the CD TEST mode 3? Normal

Abnormal

Check the cable of CNP1/CNS1. Check R1. If OK, IC2 is defective or the optical pickup is defective.

Does the pin 15 (TG1) of IC1 give output in the CD TEST mode 6? Yes
VREF

No

Check R32~38, C30~34. If OK, IC1 is defective.

Is there output between the pins 11 and 12 of IC5? Yes Check the connection of optical pickup and connector. If OK, broken wire exists or the optical pickup is defective. � The slide motor fails to run. Set the TEST mode, and press the SKIP UP/SKIP DOWN button. Is the slide feed signal output between the pin 29 of IC1 and VREF? Yes

No

IC5 is defective.

No

Is the slide feed signal output to the pins 20 and 21of IC4? Yes

IC4 is defective. No

Check R26 and R27. If OK, IC1 is defective. Is the slide feed signal output between the pins 17 and 18 of IC5? Yes The slide motor is defective or broken wire exists. IC5 is defective.
